KICC demands Sh50m as MPs risk access disruption

Despite these challenges, the commission has already settled payments amounting to Sh134 million.
The Parliamentary Service Commission (PSC) is facing renewed pressure over a substantial debt owed to the Kenyatta International Convention Centre (KICC).
In a letter dated May 9, 2025, PSC confirmed an outstanding payment of Sh50,770,421.57 for accommodation and parking services offered to Members of Parliament at the facility.
The PSC acknowledged the long-standing relationship with KICC, noting that while it has consistently met its obligations, occasional delays have occurred due to exchequer and budgetary constraints.
Despite these challenges, the commission has already settled payments amounting to Sh134 million in the current financial year—Sh73 million for the 2023/2024 fiscal period and Sh61 million for the year ending December 2024.
In the correspondence addressed to KICC CEO CPA CS James Mwaura, the PSC assured that efforts are underway to mobilize funds and clear the outstanding balance before the end of the financial year.
The commission emphasized its commitment to resolving the matter promptly.
Meanwhile, PSC has appealed to KICC to continue granting MPs access to its facilities, including parking at the COMESA grounds, without disruption.
The letter was also copied to National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetang’ula, who chairs the Parliamentary Service Commission.
